There are 5 foundation stitches when learning to crochet, and double crochet is one of those.

The Double Crochet (DC) is an essential stitch for so many crochet designs. The crisscross, shell, and popcorn are just a few of the many stitches that utilizes DC stitch.

DC can be a little tricky to learn, also very fun and once you have it down, you will find that it works up really quickly.

Dk weight yarn is preferred, you could go with Sport (this will turn it into a delicate baby Afghan), or a Worsted (which will make this much bigger, heavier, and warmer.

Hook to match the yarn weight.

Stitch Markers

Pencil and notebook.
